Job Description
Spireon is seeking experienced car alarm/interlock/GPS/MESA/MECP installers to install our devices. This is a mobile installation position and does require driving of your personal vehicle. Spireon would like to stress the fact that driving is involved, but we can accommodate most schedules. We have many installers who already own their own mobile business or work at local shops and use our work to supplement their income, or in some areas as their primary source of income. You will be traveling from location to location, meeting customers at their home/business/dealer/finance company/grocery store. Spireon is a completely mobile company that goes to the customer to complete the installation. Average installation time is 30-60 minutes, and the installs are basic including power, ignition, ground and a starter kill relay. All installers are on-boarded as a contracting business. Spireon does promote from within.

This individual will also perform installations and service calls as required to:

  • Provide rapid response to customer needs when NWIs or other direct techs are unavailable.
  • Be the point person for high profile clients in region.
  • Perform regional installs independently or in conjunction with NWI’s or direct techs.
  • Be the subject matter expert on high profile installation leadership and trouble shooting.
  • Be “first in” on new projects and pilot installations.


To perform the job successfully, an individual should demonstrate the following competencies:

  • 12VDC electrical competencies to ensure high quality up-fit of electrical systems on commercial vehicle applications.
  • Mechanical aptitude – ability to work with mechanical products, read install diagrams and layout drawings.
  • Project Management – Develops project plans and schedules; Manages cross functional deliverable to meet customer deadlines, Coordinate’s project deliverables.
  • Computer Skills – Ability to use web-based programs to manage install projects, track quality control and manage schedules.

  • Intricately engaged with the DVP&R (Design Verification Plan and Report) development and testing of multiple programs, dyno testing, durability testing, thermal performance, EMC and NVH on the track and road testing.
  • Collaborate with the validation, design, and integration teams to implement tests which will validate the functions, interfaces, and interactions of the system. Identify areas of concern, and work with teams to rectify any bugs. Also ensure high-level architecture proposals work within acceptable parameters.
  • Involvement with all aspects of component and system level testing, including kick-off meeting, test procedures, and report generation.
  • Ensure the timely delivery of testing milestones, including facility and equipment installations.
  • Follow instructions and guidance on complex or unique problems as laid out by engineering teams.
  • Implement the hardware requirement for test setups.
  • Track and assist in preparing the report of testing activities such as testing results, test case coverage, required resources, identified defects, performance baselines.
  • Support prototype test setups and hardware-in-the-loop testers to integrate new subsystems with simulated and actual vehicle components.


  • College, Associates degree, Certificates or Military training in Vehicle, Mechanical or Electrical Engineering
  • Must have 4 years of experience in shop and automotive environments, preferably working with complex electro-mechanical systems
  • Preferred strong foundation of safely working with e-systems in HV & LV environments
  • The ability to work effectively in a cross functional group setting, including essential technical assistance to support R&D Engineers, or work independently while delivering succinct written and verbal communication and making timely decisions
  • Hands-on technical experience debugging complex mechanical and/or electrical systems
  • Creative capacity for developing new ways to integrate complex system better and faster in alignment with the aggressive industry approach to revolutionary product development
  • Initially willing to travel 30% of the time domestically and internationally

  • Review CAN bus traces for calibration issues, intermittent failures and identify failure modes utilizing CANalyzer or other analysis tools from Dewesoft, ETAS INCA, dSPACE, etc..
  • Identify & solve full vehicle mechanical issues; Chassis/suspension, brakes, drivetrain, cab and structures.
  • Hands-on commissioning, diagnostics, modification and repair of engineering development, test & down vehicles supporting electrical controls, mechanical & Software systems.
  • Provide guidance and suggest improvements to engineering design reviews/changes based on serviceability, identified issues, weaknesses identified while repairing, servicing & modifying vehicles


  • Ability to identify and solve vehicle problems & communicate issues/results to the engineering Teams
  • Track – Proving Grounds: Operating vehicles at high speeds on a wide range of surfaces and weather conditions


  • MUST HAVE a Minimum of 4 years experience as an automotive technician. Electric vehicles preferred
  • Prefer ASE certification with experience working in engineering garages
  • Prefer ASE certifications 1 to 8, & Master Certification. In lieu of ASE Cert’s: Toyota T-TEN, Honda PACT, GM ASEP or STS or MIT Technician Career Training Program, MOPAR CAP, Ford ASSET, VW EFK, etc..
  • Effective technical writing and communication skills to work cross functionally with all Teams. is a must
