How long have you been in the industry?
17 years
How many years have you been MECP certified? How long have you been Master certified?
I have been MECP certified for 13 years. I have been Master certified for three years.
What is the year, make and model of the most difficult car you've ever worked on?
This is a difficult question to answer. There are so many different vehicles that are challenging in their own ways. No specific vehicle comes to mind as standing out as the most difficult. I do feel that one of the more challenging things to do today is to integrate high-end "stealth" audio systems into SUVs. Auto manufacturer's are utilizing space more and more efficiently, leaving us with less and less space to "make the magic happen". I think that this is worth mentioning due to the fact that it is one of the most common requests by my clients.
Name the top five artists in your MP3 player at the moment.
Tool, Metallica, Pantera, Slipknot, Five Finger Death Punch
What is your favorite tool to use in the installation bay and why?
At risk of sounding cheesy... my MECP Master Installation Technician Certification. No other tool can give me as much leverage from so many different angles. I also must mention another extremely powerful tool that I use on a regular basis, The 12volt Insider Forum. I highly recommend it to any serious member of the industry who wants to contribute in a positive manner to the improvement of our industry.
What's the best advice you have ever gotten in your installation career?
To embrace the importance of MECP certification. Oh yeah, and to throw away my test light back in the mid 90's.
Who inspires you to further your skills and your career in mobile electronics installation?
I am inspired by too many of my colleagues to mention. The short list is Chris Yato, Jeremy Katz, and Todd Ramsey. There are way to many guys to list though. There are a lot of great guys in our industry that possess amazing talent and passion, and yet are humble and eager to share their knowledge.
